The Big Challenge

Last Wednesday, our students received their awards from The Big Challenge contest. We would like to say a BIG well-done and thank you to all the students that took part in the contest this year. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

English Camp in Palencia 2016

 A group of 11 students of 1º and 2º  ESO spent a week in Palencia from the 18th to the 22nd of April. They participated in a variety of workshops, sports and other activities in the company of native speaking teaching staff. And these are their opinions:

"I was shy the first day but the second day I felt I could speak English"  By Victoria Simón.
"I feel I learnt a lot of vocabulary but I was really surprised because other students spoke English better than me"  by Eva Maestro.

EXCURSIÓN 2º Y 3º ESO A SEGOVIA

El viernes 5 de Marzo los alumnos de 2º y 3º ESO estuvimos en Segovia visitando la Catedral,  al Obispo de nuestra Diócesis y  a Puri  una monja dominica.

Los alumnos de 3º A y PEMAR opinan sobre esta excursión:

"El obispo me pareció una persona maja y amigable, fácil de hablar con él. Lo que más me gustó fue la visita a la Catedral y su torre".

"El obispo es una persona divertida"

"Las monjas de clausura tiene una vida interesante"

"Me ha parecido una experiencia única poder hablar con el obispo de la diócesis y a las monjas de clausura".

“Nos explicaron muy bien la construcción de la catedral”.

“Ha estado chulo subir a la torre de la catedral de Segovia”.

“Me  ha dejado asombrado la catedral”

"One Way Ticket"

Last 5th of November, there was a theatre play called "One Way Ticket" in Nava de la Asunción. The play took place in the assembly room next to the sports centre where the actors set their scenery (the London Tube).
A woman, whose name was Bob, travelled from Manchester to London by British railway. She had to do an interview to be a reporter for the BBC. Harry was a clerk in the London Tube and he didn´t let Bob travel because her ticket wasn´t valid for the Tube. Bob didn´t have money so she dressed up as a government inspector and set a videocamera in the station in order to record everything going on. Bob and Harry made a deal, if she helped Harry to get a better and more efficient station, Harry would give her a ticket, so she finally could go to the interview and became a BBC reporter, and Harry would keep his work because everything was a fake.
I think that it was really easy to understand so students from lower levels attended and got the message across. To sum up, I can say that it was a very interesting and funny play, not very long because it lasted one hour and a quarter and it was a different way to improve our listening and understanding level.

¡Bienvenidos a nuestro centro!

El IES "Jaime Gil de Biedma" les da la bienvenida. Somos una gran familia y nos sentimos muy orgullosos de nuestro trabajo. Esta revista fue creada precisamente para compartir nuestras mejores experiencias. Este curso que comienza queremos renovar nuestras ilusiones. Es verdad que tenemos algunas novedades curriculares, pero sobre todo asumimos el desafío constante que supone la educación de nuestros alumnos.
En estos momentos mejor que en cualquier otro, debemos transmitir a nuestro alumnado la necesidad del trabajo duro y el esfuerzo como la única vía para alcanzar los objetivos propuestos. Para lograr que el mensaje les llegue claramente necesitamos la ayuda y colaboración de las familias. Si trabajamos todos juntos, el camino es más fácil.

 IES JAIME GIL DE BIEDMA Y RESIDENCIA DE MAYORES “ALAMEDA” ESTRECHANDO   LAZOS DE CARIÑO Y AMISTAD

                Cuando en Octubre de 2014 iniciamos esta experiencia de relación con los mayores de la Residencia Alameda no pensamos que iba a llegar tan lejos.

                Tímidamente comenzamos los alumnos de 1º de Bachillerato en una de las horas de clase de Religión a visitar a los residentes. La timidez que los ancianos y los chavales expresaron en un principio, rápidamente, dio paso a un deseo de volvernos a encontrar. Los jueves a las 9,30h. en punto salíamos del instituto a la carrera para ganar unos minutos al reloj y estar más tiempo con los mayores, y ellos por su parte, se apresuraban en  estar preparados para cuando llegásemos charlar, reir, echar unas cartas…

                El deseo y el entusiasmo ha ido creciendo, ya no son los residentes y los alumnos los que se encuentran, ahora son Carmen, Agustín, Hortensia, Mª Luisa… y Geneva, Sandra, Javier, Silvia, la maestra… Ya no somos desconocidos, ya tenemos nombre y rostro y una pequeña historia vivida juntos.

                El curso ha pasado rápido y lo hemos concluido con una fiesta estupenda y con la entrega de premios del concurso de dibujo y relatos breves organizado por la Residencia al cumplir sus veinticinco años de andadura en el pueblo.

                Damos las gracias a todos los que han hecho posible este ENCUENTRO que esperamos continúe.

The Big Challenge

Este es el tercer año que nuestro centro participa en un concurso llamado "The Big Challenge". Una vez más queremos felicitar a todos los participantes y especialmente a aquellos que han obtenido los mejores resultados. Sonia Perfecto, alumna de 3ºESO, ha sido la mejor en su nivel en nuestro centro y también en la provincia de Segovia. Congratulations!!!

Jornada Multiaventura (Mayo 2015)

A week in English.

Before Easter holiday, 24 students from 1st and 2nd ESO went to Palencia to improve their English skills. Here you have some of their comments:
"The camp was fantantic, we made friends, very good friends. We did some activities and games in English. It was the best week of this year." By Ángela Ajo.
"I liked the camp because I spoke English and we went to La Roca. I didn´t like an activity called: the perfect boyfriend and girlfriend." By Julia Perfecto.
"It was a fantastic experience, I recomend it to the people of the next year. You can meet other students and you make a lot of friends. The activities in La Roca were fantastic." By Álvaro Carrión.
"My experience in the camp was very exiting because I learn English and I made new friends from Arévalo and Tordesillas. My favourite thing in the camp was the party because I danced a lot with my friends." By Eva Maestro.
"The camp was fantastic, I met new friends, we played a lot of activities and the people were friendly. I liked the camp but it was very short." By Elena Serrano.

Saint Patrick´s Day 2015.

Last Tuesday, we celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day during the break time. It is a festivity that takes place on 17th March in Ireland to commemorate the death of Saint Patrick, but each year it is celebrated in more cities around the world. It took place in the “Salon de Actos” which was decorated with shamrocks, balloons and main symbols of the country as the harp, the Celtic cross and the Claddagh, the pot of gold that appears at the end of the rainbow and the Irish flag. 
Moreover, the students of 1st and 2nd course of ESO could send drinks and food. Teachers and students could buy drinks as orange juice, kiwi juice, milk and tea which represent the Irish culture and their colours; and food as biscuits with the colours of Irish flag (green, orange and white), green and orange cupcakes, Guinness cake, Sponge with snakes, chocolate coins and bars. 
The students collaborated doing a presentation of the story of Saint Patrick’s Day and of a legend called “the farmer and the leprechaun”. They also gave shamrocks as presents to wish good luck, and we have the opportunity of enjoying with the company of an authentic leprechaun. It was short but complete break time.

                   VISITAMOS ÁVILA

Excursión a Ávila:

Este pasado jueves 26 de Febrero, los alumnos de 2º de la E.S.O de diversos institutos de Segovia, acompañados por nuestras profesoras de religión, visitamos la ciudad de Ávila con motivo del V Centenario  del nacimiento de Teresa de Jesús.

Visitamos diversos lugares en los que estuvo Teresa, y que fueron  trascendentales para su vida. Visitamos edificios como: el primer Convento que fundó (San José), la Basílica de San Vicente, la Muralla de Ávila y la Casa Natal.

Las profesoras nos explicaron acontecimientos de su vida que nos aportaron mucho, sobre la construcción de la basílica y sobre el  significado de muchas de las figuras que allí se encuentran, el cenotafio, sobre la casa de la Santa en la que vimos la habitación donde nació  y el jardín donde jugaba con su hermano Rodrigo. También subimos a la Muralla y allí una guía nos explicó lo que íbamos viendo.

Fue una excursión muy entretenida en la que conocimos a muchas personas nuevas y nos encontramos  con personas que hacía tiempo que no veíamos.

El día 10 de Febrero hemos celebrado el día de internet seguro "Safer Internet Day 2015". Los alumnos de 1º y 2º ESO han asistido a un taller sobre internet seguro. Aquí tenéis algunas fotos de ellos y también algunos enlaces que pueden ser útiles para conocer algo más sobre el tema.

AFTER THE PLAY.....

We all enjoy that play and these are our actors and actresses´ opinions:

"Last Thursday we went to the theatre. It was so funny. The actors told me to help them. I didn´t want to help them at first but finally, I went to the stage. When I was up there, I was very nervous. I was the cook and the Chiquilicuatre. I was dancing and reading a few sentences. It was really funny and a great experience"            By Lucía Arribas.

 "I was sitting on my chair watching a funny play. When Claire, the beautiful actress, went down the stage to look for an assistant, she caught me and I thought: “Oh no”. I went behind the stage; everybody clapped to me (of course), she told me I had to do as she did. I don’t need to explain all I did, because you could see me. I was a famous actor, Antonio Banderas, and I was in a restaurant. Claire and I danced, acted, and in the end I think I enjoyed it, but I don’t want to repeat this experience."                 By Jaime Gómez. 

"My experience in the theatre was very amazing. I was a famous singer and dancer. My name was Superstar. When actors talked to me, I didn´t understand anything because they spoke very quickly and I was very nervous."              By Carmela García



"When the actress came to our seats, I was sure that she would choose me. At first, I felt so shy because they said to me that I had to dance, I dance really bad, but finally, I had a really good time and I enjoyed the theatre very much. The actors did a very good job and "volunteers" helped them. I have to say THANKS to everybody that watched the theatre and I hope you had a good time and learn some English!!                     By Manuel García.

¡NOS VAMOS AL CITA DE PEÑARANDA!

Hace unos días dos compañeros míos y yo fuimos con nuestra profesora de inglés (Inma) al C.I.T.A (Centro Internacional de Tecnología Avanzada) en Peñaranda de Bracamonte, a exponer un trabajo que habíamos estado realizando desde el principio de curso durante algunas clases de inglés. El trabajo consiste en un mapa de Gran Bretaña  e Irlanda que contiene realidad aumentada  con códigos QR y con Aurasma. Mis compañeros y yo estuvimos ensayando y practicando la presentación que íbamos a exponer ante de profesores de todo el mundo.

Llegamos a Peñaranda por la mañana y hasta por la tarde no fue nuestro turno de presentación; pensábamos que iba a haber poco público puesto que era un poco tarde (19:20) y había otros talleres a la vez, pero finalmente vino mucha gente a vernos y a pesar de estar muy nerviosos lo hicimos fenomenal y nos dieron la enhorabuena. María, la coordinadora del congreso, nos hizo un regalo.

ENCUENTRO DE MEDIADORES 2013-14 EN VALSAIN

Los alumnos mediadores y los profesores de los IES María Moliner, Giner de los Ríos, María Zambrano, Jaime Gil de Biedma – de Segovia- y  Ferrari, Santo Tomás de Aquino – de Valladolid-, nos hemos reunido en Valsaín los días 25 y 26 de Abril.

Ha sido una experiencia muy positiva, hemos aprendido mucho sobre la convivencia en el instituto y algunos métodos de resolución de conflictos. Todos los alumnos quedamos muy contentos con la experiencia y ya estamos pensando en repetirla. Nos gustó mucho el ambiente que se creó por parte de todos los centros y el lugar reunió unas cualidades óptimas que hicieron que esos días fueran muy agradables.

Las actividades organizadas por todos los centros fueron muy divertidas y como propósito queremos hacer un lipdub en el que contaremos nuestras inquietudes para poder llevar a otros posibles encuentros. También  hemos descubierto la figura del “hermano mayor”. Son alumnos de 1º Bachillerato que acompañan a los alumnos pequeños cuando estos tienen algunas dificultades de relación en el instituto. Esta idea nos gustó mucho e intentaremos ponerla en práctica el curso que viene. Estamos deseando repetir este encuentro y seguir avanzando como “grupo” incorporando a compañeros nuevos a él.

Querríamos poder organizar nosotros la próxima convivencia y seguir aprendiendo sobre todos estos temas: habilidades sociales, prevención de acoso escolar…

También queremos resaltar que nos lo pasamos muy bien, hicimos muchos amigos y el personal del CENEAM fue muy amable con nosotros.

Nos gustaría acudir al año que viene a otra convivencia.

La comida estaba muy rica y nos gustaron mucho las instalaciones.

Visita teatralizada a Sepúlveda con 2º de ESO

Antes de vacaciones, visitamos Sepúlveda de la mano de Sepúlveda Viva, quienes nos explicaron aspectos de la historia, la economía, el arte románico, etc. de esta villa durante la Edad Media. Todo ello a través de interesantes explicaciones intercaladas de pequeñas actuaciones teatrales en las diferentes calles de la localidad. ¡Una experiencia muy interesante!
